Proven grinder with solid performance
The Farina also grinds with the proven conical grindstones made of Naxos basalt in magnesite bond. Thanks to the ball-bearing stone axle, the crank can be turned with ease. That is why this hand-operated grain mill from Kornkraft is particularly popular in daycare centres.
Cereals and grinding capacity
All types of grain such as wheat, rye, barley, oats, kamut, buckwheat (no maize and no nuts) can be ground. Seeds containing oil (e.g. linseed or sesame) are ground together with cereals on a fine level. These cannot be ground pure with the hand mill, not even at the coarse setting. At 80 rpm, the Farina manages approx. 90 grams of grain per minute at the coarse setting and approx. 35 g at the fine setting.
Form and material
The Mill body is timelessly beautiful and purposefully designed without any superfluous flourishes. The clean workmanship and the deliberately simple structure of the larch wood from the local timber industry are striking. The natural bio-wax balsam gives the finish a silky-matt shimmer. The grindstones are made of Naxos basalt in magnesite bond. So you automatically receive the vital mineral magnesium in traces.
Handling
Farina is attached with a sturdy table clamp (incl.) and is stable due to the large three-point base. The cork feet are non-slip and protect the table surface. When used properly, the hand mill grinds maintenance-free. It cleans itself during the grinding process. As with all electric and manually operated grain mills, the grindstones can become clogged and obstruct the ejection if the material to be ground is too moist or contains too much oil. Therefore, if no more flour is ejected, immediately set to very coarse and continue grinding slowly. However, if the grindstonee need to be cleaned, this is no problem at all with Farina. It can be opened very easily by holding the crank and turning the knob at the front to the left until the stone is loosened.
Other special features
Grinding by hand is great fun for children. That is why the Farina is often used in kindergartens for the fresh preparation of muesli. Coarsely ground oat grains quickly and easily produce tasty and wholesome oatmeal (similar to oat flakes).
